Inspired by his connection to Africa—particularly through the travels and years his father spent there—Ben Gorham conceived Bal d’Afrique as both an imaginary journey and a celebration of Africa’s profound cultural impact on dance, art, and music.

This reinterpretation enhances the contrast between the vivid lightness and irresistible depth of Bal d’Afrique by intensifying its gourmand characteristics, for a richer and more captivating experience. Notes of bergamot, lemon, and blackcurrant release a vibrant intensity that blends with the sweetness of praline, musks, and violet, eventually settling into a powerful base of cedarwood, vetiver, and warm black amber.

Beyond the fragrance, the new Absolu de Parfum bottle is also a tribute to craftsmanship. The tactile cap is inspired by Yakisugi (the Japanese art of wood carbonization) and reflects the essence of Absolu—marked by deep intensity, transformation, and lasting strength.

With its industrial gold and silver design, the spray top complements the bottle’s clean curves and minimalist glass form. Inside, the intense hue of Absolu de Parfum gives a visual hint of the fragrance’s rich concentration.
